The listener has to tell instantly who is speaking. Different pitch or different accent does that; two similar voices force people to work it out, and they will not.
Emotion is automatic
Each message is tagged with an emotion from the script, so the same voice sounds different when angry and when joking. You do not have to direct it.
Match the voice to the character
A dramatic voice reading a silly line is funny once. Across a whole video it just feels wrong. Pick for the person, not the effect.
