How it works
From one line to a finished video
Six things happen after you press Generate. You do not have to think about any of them, but it helps to know what the machine is actually doing.
- 1
You describe the situation
One line is enough: who is arguing and about what. Or paste a script you already wrote, one message per line, and skip ahead.
- 2
The script gets written
A model writes the conversation with an opening that starts mid-tension, an escalation, and a twist near the end. Each message is tagged with an emotion, which is what the voices use later.
- 3
Reactions are chosen per message
Every message gets a GIF picked from a tagged library, matched to that specific line rather than to the video as a whole. That is why the reactions answer what was just said.
- 4
Two voices read it
Each speaker gets a voice, and each line is delivered with the emotion it was tagged with. A shocked line sounds shocked, without you directing anything.
- 5
Sound and picture are assembled
Clips are rendered per message, joined, laid over your background, then the intro sound, music and effects are mixed underneath and levelled.
- 6
You download an MP4
1080x1920, 25fps, no watermark, ready for TikTok, Reels and Shorts. Usually two to five minutes from start to finish.
Frequently
asked questions
Is it really free to start?
Yes. Every new account gets 3 free minutes of video, once. They are not a monthly allowance and they do not reset, so use them on something you actually want to post. No card is needed.
How are minutes counted?
By the length of the finished video, not by how long it takes to make. A 30-second video uses half a minute of your allowance. Failed generations are not charged.
What happens when I upgrade or downgrade?
Upgrades start a new billing period immediately and refresh your minutes. Downgrades and cancellations take effect at the end of the period you already paid for. Minutes do not roll over.
I subscribed in the iPhone app. Does that work here?
Yes, it is the same account and the same minutes. Manage that plan in the App Store, not here. If you subscribe on the web instead, manage it at gifchat.app in Billing. Subscribing in the app while a web plan is active stops the web plan at the end of its period.
Can I use the videos commercially?
Yes. You own the videos you generate and can post or monetise them. You are responsible for what you make, so do not impersonate real people or use someone's likeness without permission.
How do I cancel?
One click in Billing, or on the cancel page without signing in. Cancelling stops the next charge and you keep your minutes until the period ends.
Can I get a refund?
If you are in the EU or UK you have 14 days to withdraw. Because the service starts immediately, we charge only for the minutes you actually used, and once the whole allowance is used the right to withdraw ends. Outside those regions, contact support and we will look at it.
What voices are available?
Six AI voices, three male and three female, in American and British accents. Each message is read with an emotion the AI picks from the script, so delivery changes with the story.
What backgrounds can I use?
A clean default, three gameplay split-screens including Minecraft parkour and Subway Surfers, or your own video or image up to 30MB.
How long can a video be?
30 seconds, 1 minute or 2 minutes. Pasted scripts run as long as the script needs.
What format do I get?
A vertical 1080x1920 MP4 at 25fps, ready for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, with the voices, sound effects and music already mixed in.
How long does a video take?
Usually two to five minutes. You can close the tab; the video appears in your history when it is done.
