Copyright & DMCA policy
Last updated 2026-10-08
GifChat respects the rights of creators. Users can upload their own GIF packs and borders, and sometimes that material belongs to someone else. If you own a copyright and think something on GifChat uses it without permission, tell us and we will look at it quickly.
We respond to notices under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. §512). GifChat is run from the Republic of Moldova. If you are in the EU, you can also report illegal content under the EU Digital Services Act notice-and-action rules, using the same form.
Where to send a notice
Our designated copyright agent:
- Cezar Drumea, GifChat
- str. Academician Eugen Coșeriu 16, MD-2021 Chișinău, Republic of Moldova
- Email: gifchatadmin@gmail.com
Email your notice, or use the form below. It is the fastest way and makes sure nothing is missing.
What a notice must include
The law asks for six things. The form covers all of them.
- Your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name is enough).
- What copyrighted work you think is being infringed.
- Where the material is on GifChat, with enough detail for us to find it: a link, a pack name or a username.
- How to reach you: your address, email and, if you like, a phone number.
- A statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised by the owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement that the information is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner.
Knowingly making false claims in a notice or counter-notice can make you liable for damages under 17 U.S.C. §512(f).
Send a copyright notice
What happens next
We review each notice, usually within 1–2 business days. If it is complete and valid, we remove or disable the material and tell the user who uploaded it, including a copy of the notice. We may ask you for more detail if something is missing.
If your content was removed by mistake
If you uploaded something we removed and you believe that was a mistake, or that the material was misidentified, you can send a counter-notice. We forward it to the person who complained. Unless they tell us within 10–14 business days that they have filed a court action against you, we may put the content back.
A counter-notice must include your name, address and signature, what was removed and where it was, a statement under penalty of perjury that it was removed by mistake or misidentification, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the court described in the form.
Repeat infringers
Each valid notice against an account counts as a strike. An account that receives 3 strikes within 12 months is terminated. A strike is removed if the notice is withdrawn or the user sends a successful counter-notice.
