This page explains how to delete your account in the GifChat app, made by Cezar Drumea. Deleting is permanent and cannot be undone.
In the app
- Open GifChat and go to your Profile.
- Tap the gear icon to open Settings.
- Tap Personal details.
- Tap Delete Account, then Delete My Account.
- Type your username to confirm. Your account is deleted right away and you are signed out.
Without the app
- By email. Write to support@gifchat.app from the email address on your account, with your username and the words "Delete my account". We delete it and reply to confirm, within a month at the latest.
- On the website. Open gifchat.app, sign in, and follow the same steps as in the app: Settings, then Delete Account.
Cancel your plan first
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play. Cancel it in your store's subscription settings, or it may keep charging you. How to cancel. Time left on a subscription, and unspent coins, are lost when you delete your account.
What is deleted
- Your account: email, username, password, profile picture and personal details.
- Your private messages, both sent and received, your posts, stories, memes, likes, saves and follows.
- The videos you made and your Face packs, including their GIFs and face photos.
- Your groups where you were the last member, notifications, settings and device push tokens.
What is kept
- Group messages and comments on other people's posts. They stay so the conversation still makes sense for others, but your name is removed and they show as [deleted].
- Purchase records. The record of each payment (amount, date, plan), as long as tax law requires.
- Free allowance record. A one-way hash showing that a mailbox has used its free allowance, so it cannot simply be claimed again. It cannot be turned back into your address.
- Face pack consent. The record that you gave permission and the photo's one-way hash (not the photo), to show that permission was given and to handle complaints or legal claims.
- Safety reports. Reports you made or that were made about you, with your account details removed, for trust and safety.
- Request logs. Basic server logs, for a short rolling window.
