Make chat story videos in the browser

The GifChat studio at gifchat.app/studio does what the iPhone app's Create tab does, in a web browser: the same ways to start a story, the same voices, GIF packs, captions and backgrounds, and the same Make it with AI chat. There is one requirement. You create your account in the GifChat iPhone app first, then sign in on the web with the same email and password.

The studio needs a GifChat account, which you create in the iPhone app.

What you need

A GifChat account, made in the iPhone app; the website has no sign-up. After that, any modern browser works: a laptop, an iPad, or a phone. Plans are also bought only in the app, through the App Store, and your plan and minutes follow your account, so whatever you have in the app is there the moment you sign in on the web.

What works on the web

All five ways to start a video: Surprise me, Start from a picture, Paste a script, Write a scenario and Debate, each with a live 9:16 preview that updates as you choose voices, GIF packs, bubble frames, captions and the background. Make it with AI runs in the browser too, including the mic. You can see your video history, check your plan and usage, and redeem a promo code. Uploading your own background video or image (up to 30MB) is easier from a computer, where the clip probably already lives.

Leave it rendering

Videos usually take two to five minutes. You can close the tab while one renders; it keeps going on GifChat's servers and appears in your history when it is done.

How to make one with GifChat

  1. Create your account in the iPhone app

Download GifChat from the App Store and sign up. New accounts get 3 free minutes, once.

  2. Open gifchat.app/studio

Sign in with the same email and password. If you turned on two-factor sign-in, enter the code from your email.

  3. Pick a way to start

Choose one of the five recipes, or open Make it with AI and describe the video.

  4. Set it up in the live preview

Voices, GIF packs, bubble frames, the name and badge in the chat header, captions and the background all show in the preview as you pick them.

  5. Generate

The button shows how many minutes the video will use and how many you have left.

  6. Download or share

Download the 1080x1920 MP4, or share it straight from the browser where your device supports it.

Tips

  • Long scripts are much easier to write and paste with a real keyboard. Paste a script takes up to 3,000 characters.
  • Keep the studio open in a tab while you post. Make the next video while the last one renders.
  • Your minutes and plan belong to your account, not the device, so you can start on the phone and continue on the laptop.
  • Need more minutes? They are bought in the app; the web shows your plan and links to it.
