Reddit-style stories as chat videos

Reddit story videos usually show one long post read by a single narrator over gameplay. Telling the same kind of story as a text conversation between the two people involved gives it a second voice, a reaction on every line, and a reveal you control. GifChat makes that version: the chat on top, Minecraft parkour or Subway Surfers underneath.

The studio needs a GifChat account, which you create in the iPhone app.

Why a chat beats a narrated post

A narrated post is someone summarising what happened. A chat shows it happening: one person finds out, the other tries to explain, and the viewer watches the gap close. Two AI voices read the two sides, each message gets a GIF reaction, and the moment of discovery can land exactly where you want it instead of being buried in paragraph four.

Use your own story, not someone else's post

Copying a real post word for word reuses another person's writing, and real stories can identify real people. Write the situation in your own words or make one up in the same spirit. GifChat's Write a scenario turns a single sentence into a full chat, so you never need the original text. Keep names and details fictional.

The gameplay underneath

Pick Minecraft parkour, a second parkour map (Minecraft 2) or Subway Surfers as a split-screen under the chat, or upload your own video or image up to 30MB. The motion keeps the eye busy while the story is read, which is the reason the format exists.

How to make one with GifChat

  1. Boil the story down to one line

Who did what, and who is about to find out. For example: "he borrowed her car for a job interview and she just saw it on a dating app profile".

  2. Open Write a scenario

Paste that line (up to 500 characters), pick a tone such as Dramatic or Chaotic, and add a setting if it matters.

  3. Name both people

Add a short description for each, like "defensive, never admits anything". It shapes how they argue.

  4. Or write the chat yourself

Paste a script takes Name: message lines for exactly two people, if you want every word to be yours.

  5. Pick the split-screen and a length

One minute suits the setup, escalation and reveal of most stories; two minutes needs several turns to stay watchable.

  6. Generate and post

Rendering usually takes two to five minutes. The MP4 works as-is on TikTok, Reels and Shorts.

Tips

  • Start at the moment of discovery, not the backstory. The backstory can come out in the argument.
  • For "who is in the wrong" stories, try Debate: two sides argue one topic, and leaving the verdict open gives the comments something to do.
  • Keep each message short. A line that wraps to three rows on a phone reads as a paragraph, not a text.
  • Calm parkour footage suits tense or sad stories; Subway Surfers suits chaotic and funny ones.

Questions

Can I paste a Reddit post straight in?

Paste a script expects a chat, one message per line as Name: message, not a narrated post. Rewrite the story as messages, or describe it in one sentence in Write a scenario and let the AI write the chat.

Is there a narrator voice?

No. Each person in the chat has their own AI voice, and the messages are read as the conversation.

Which gameplay backgrounds are included?

Minecraft parkour, Minecraft 2 and Subway Surfers as split-screens, plus the clean GifChat chat background. You can also upload your own video or image up to 30MB.

Can I post these videos on my accounts?

Yes, you own the videos you make. You are responsible for their content, so do not use real people's names or likeness without permission.
