Text message video with GIF reactions

In a GifChat video the reactions are part of the conversation, not stickers dropped on at the end. Each message gets a real GIF picked for that specific line, from the GIF packs you chose for that person, so the reaction answers what was just said. The video is read in two AI voices and finished with captions and sound.

The studio needs a GifChat account, which you create in the iPhone app.

How the reactions are chosen

GifChat's GIFs come in packs, and every GIF in them is tagged. You give each person at least one pack. While the video is made, the AI reads each message and its emotion and picks the GIF from that person's packs that fits it best. Giving the two people different packs gives them different reaction styles, which helps viewers tell them apart at a glance.

The chat around the GIFs

Each side can have a bubble frame around its GIFs, or none. The chat header shows the first sender's name with a name style (Plain, Gold or Holographic), a tick, and a small badge word such as bestie, bro or babe. Leave the badge on Auto and the AI picks a word that fits the two of them. The video can also open with a real photo or clip from GifChat's library, which sets up the first beat before anyone types.

Captions that work with the reactions

There are 9 caption styles, from classic white with a black outline to neon and comic, plus Customize for font, size, colour, outline, glow, box and position. On top of that, 8 caption looks change how the words appear: Default, Colour, Karaoke, Breakout, Stickers, Headline, Balloon and Shuffle.

How to make one with GifChat

  1. Create your account in the iPhone app

It comes with 3 free minutes, once. You can then make videos in the app or at gifchat.app/studio.

  2. Get a script

Let the AI write one from a sentence, use Surprise me, or paste your own as Name: message lines.

  3. Pick GIF packs for each person

At least one pack each. Different packs for each side make the two reaction styles easy to tell apart.

  4. Choose voices and bubble frames

A voice per person from more than 20 AI voices, and a frame for each side's GIFs if you want one.

  5. Set the captions and background

A caption style and look, then the clean GifChat chat, a gameplay split-screen, or your own video or image.

  6. Generate and download

Usually two to five minutes. You get a 1080x1920 MP4 ready to post.

Tips

  • Short messages let the GIF do the talking. A reaction lands harder next to "wait what" than next to a paragraph.
  • Match packs to personalities: the calm one and the dramatic one should not react the same way.
  • Use an opening photo when the story turns on something seen, like a bank balance or a crashed car.
  • Bright gameplay like Subway Surfers suits comedy; the parkour clips sit better under tense stories.

Questions

Where do the GIFs come from?

From GifChat's GIF packs. You choose the packs for each person; the GIF for each message is picked automatically to match that line.

Can I choose a specific GIF for a specific message?

You choose the packs, not individual GIFs. Narrowing a person to one or two packs is the way to steer their reactions.

Do GIF reactions cost extra?

No. Every video includes them. Minutes are counted only by the length of the finished video.

Can I remove the GifChat mark?

A small "Made with GifChat" mark is on by default. Creator and Pro plans can turn it off per video.

What format is the video?

A vertical 1080x1920 MP4 at 25fps with voices, sound effects and optional music mixed in.
